• When the season changes, sweep all of the dirt off of the top and bottom of your stationary awnings. When you do this, use a broom that has soft bristles to avoid damaging the fabric of your awnings.
• Throughout the year, you should keep shrubs, trees, and vines trimmed away from the surface of your awnings. If plants grow over your awnings, you risk permanently damaging your awning material.
• Whenever you walk into or out of your home or business, glance up at your awnings and take note of any holes or tears. Small imperfections are easier to fix than major rips in your stationary awnings.
• On an annual basis, give your awnings a thorough clean. You do not need to take down your awnings to do this. Simply spray them down to eliminate dirt and debris from the fabric and then use a soft-bristle brush and a solution of water and mild soap to scrub away any remaining buildup.
